What is ISO 50001?
- ISO 50001 is the International Standard for Energy Management Systems.
- The old version is ISO 50001:2011 Energy management systems were published in 2011 and ISO published a revised version of ISO 50001 in 2018.
- This ISO 50001:2018 standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system.
- The purpose of ISO 50001:2018 is to an organization have to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance. It includes energy efficiency, security, energy consumption, and use.
- The revised version reflects to promote adoption of the standard among small and medium-sized enterprises.
