Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator (WSH)
Finding hazardous problems in the workplace and suggesting and putting into action corrective action are the responsibilities of a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Coordinator.
Description of the job
By conducting safety inspections to identify instances of non-compliance, keeping an eye on everyday work practices, gathering employee input, and evaluating the risks involved, a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Coordinator assists an organization's WSH procedures the risks associated with workplace hazards, and elevating issues that call for preventive and corrective action. The Coordinator needs to be physically fit for the position because it involves working outside to perform inspections on the shop floor, at dry docks, and aboard ships. In order to enforce safety compliance in the workplace, the Coordinator should also possess strong observational abilities and a thorough understanding of WSH regulations. For the Coordinator to perform the job and some WSH tasks, they must meet all applicable legislative requirements for WSH-related training.
Among their duties are:
1. Organizing the execution of plans for emergency preparedness and response
2. Recognizing WSH risks and putting preventative measures in place
3. Fostering the growth of WSH culture
4. Examining and documenting WSH incidents
5. Assessing, tracking, and reporting WSH performance
6. Putting WSH policy into practice
7. Bringing the WSH management system into compliance with the law
8. Encouraging efficient communication at work
